Our commitments

TOWARDS ETHICAL JEWELRY...
We are committed to transparency when it comes to the environmental and human impact of our business. Indeed, certain operations rightly give rise to controversy concerning the metal and gemstone mining industry. These are all issues that concern us, and we are guided by our convictions to move towards ethical and transparent jewelry. In this eco-responsible approach, our entirely handmade jewelry is made with 100% recycled gold, a way of giving metal a second life. Gold mining has serious environmental and human consequences. Recycling gold helps to maintain a circular economy while combating the devastating consequences of this industry.
RECYCLED GOLD
For over 90 years, Salmon has worked closely with Cookson-CLAL in the selection of its precious metals. Founded in Paris nearly 200 years ago, Cookson-CLAL is today the leading gold supplier and refiner to French jewelers. In 2015, Cookson-CLAL was awarded RJC - CoP "Responsible Jewellery Council" certification. The RJC is an international organization that verifies and certifies ethical, social and environmental trading practices in diamonds and precious metals, while respecting human rights. This collaboration demonstrates our determination to control metal traceability throughout the supply chain. Through them, we are committed to respecting the RJC code of practice for gold and platinum. The RJC is also a member of the ISEAL Alliance: The global association for sustainability standards.
TRUST DIAMOND
When it comes to our diamonds, we aim to offer both quality stones that meet 4C standards and stones that comply with environmental, human and societal ethics. Salmon offers only diamonds certified by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). The GIA is a not-for-profit organization responsible for evaluating diamonds, precious stones and gems with seriousness and precision, according to strict standards such as the 4Cs: Color (diamond color), Carat (diamond weight), Cut (diamond size) and Clarity (diamond clarity).
We only work with diamonds from sources certified by the "Kimberley Process", which guarantees that 99% of rough diamonds come from countries that are not at war, and whose revenues do not contribute to financing armed conflict. The Kimberley Process is an international certification scheme for rough diamonds that brings together government institutions and the diamond industry. Our diamonds come from Canada, Botswana, South Africa and Russia. Once mined, these rough stones are sent to the bourses to be sorted by size and quality. They are then cut in India, one of the world's leading stone-cutting and polishing countries. Finally, they are sent to independent certification laboratories (GIA, HRD, IGI...) and then to the world's diamond exchanges for sale to professionals.
We work with the Antwerp Stock Exchange. All our diamonds, from 0.18 carats upwards, are GIA-certified, the most widely recognized laboratory used by the major jewelry houses. For colored gemstones, i.e. sapphires, emeralds and rubies, as well as semi-precious stones (peridot, aquamarine, topaz, etc.), we offer stones certified by the AIGS "Asian Institute of Gemological Sciences" or GIL "Gemological International Laboratories", enabling us to ascertain the origin and traceability of the stone. Some of our semi-precious stones are selected by a trusted gemologist who travels to the site to choose them and ensure that working conditions comply with international laws and our convictions.
